Round 4 Course description |
The course is located at the western side of the forest park around the area known as Moorish Tower. The start finish area is adjacent to the western side of the lake. The start area is approximately 6 metres wide and will be fenced off to allow the public to pass safely on race day. From the start line (Section 1) the course climbs for 150mts into a right turn for a further 300mts then turns left still on fire road for 100mts race distance (RD) is now .55k. (Section 2) Course turns left into single-track for a series of slight climbs and turns over a rock section before crossing the fire road and forking left into more rocky single- track race distance (RD) is 85k (Section 3) Sharp turn left leads to a 230mts stoney climb before the course dips left into single-track to follow a sweeping trail through the trees and return to the fire road for a short 20mts before turning right into more winding single-track. Round three of the UCI Class 2 ranked K-Capital Cup Mountain Bike Cross Country Series takes place this weekend at Djouce Woods near Bray in County Wicklow. Promoted by the K-Capital Source/Rocky Mountain Club, the entry for the Elite Mens race is truly International with no less than thirteen visting riders making the trip to Ireland. The race also marks the third and final stage in ‘race to Beijing’ to select the Irish rider for the 2008 Olympic Games. Team Worc rider Robin Seymour won round two of the series at Moneyscalp Wood in the shadows of the Mourne Mountains, this giving Seymour the Elite Mens leaders jersey and more importantly put him in pole position for Olympic selection.
